Optic Signs sees green future with investment in eco-friendly printing equipment.
Optic Signs & Marketing Inc., a West Kelowna-based sign and marketing company has invested heavily in green technology; specifically an eco-friendly printer for digital graphics.
The HP L25500 is a high performance water-based latex printer that can print up to 246 square feet per hour at a 60” print width.
“Our business is growing rapidly and the new printer and cutting system increases our output capacity by nearly five times over our previous solvent ink printer.” said company president C.J. Wilkins. “Our customers deserve the latest and most eco-friendly technology available and that’s what we’re delivering now and into the future.”
Ecological benefits of the water-based latex ink system include low VOCs (volatile organic compounds), no off-gassing (release of ink chemicals after printing), no smell and faster production times due to not waiting for the off-gassing process to add a lamination coating to the graphics.
The acquisition of the new printer means Optic Signs & Marketing stands out as the only company in the B.C. Interior running eco-friendly latex ink.
“We saw the need and the opportunity to become leaders in green technology for the sign business.” said Optic Signs & Marketing Inc. vice president Julie Michaud. “With the acquisition of our 60” latex ink printer, we can offer our customers more flexibility and choice while knowing we are doing the right thing for the planet.” |
